MIND
"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all"
~Aristotle
At evergreen lane, we understand the importance of having a solid educational background when starting grade school. A typical day follows a predictable daily routine so that young learners know the answer to “what will I do next?” We prepare weekly themes incorporating kindergarten readiness skills and continue each lesson through a play-based approach. We use materials from the natural world as much as possible and utilize dry-erase boards to reduce usage and waste of paper. We have both indoor and outdoor classroom spaces. Skills practiced include observation, scientific thinking and experimentation, math, art, music, language, and physical, personal, and social development. Your child’s learning adventure will include the following experiences:
Outdoor Time
Our children use their senses to learn about the natural world in our very own 8 acre backyard. As they discover the wonders of nature, our natural playground empowers children to explore the ecosystem in a muddy puddle, the sparkle in freshly fallen snow and the circle of life within our very own chicken coop! Nature advocacy starts small with our littlest learners who grow to respect and cherish our natural world.
Work Time
Research shows the all children learn best through play. Our daily educational approach is to limit traditional desk work time to a maximum of 20 minutes per day. Desk work consists of writing skills and fine motor skills. Lessons continue through classroom play materials, table activities and other hands on activities.
Group Activities
Group time is an opportunity for the entire program to come together and explore a shared sets of materials. Social interaction enhances the speed and accuracy of learning at all ages throughout life. Our goal is to create a sense of community within our growing family through a variety of shared active learning experiences.s
